Hello!

Sylvia and I recently went back to Crescent! The 'underwater' world thing isn't underwater and just looks like one giant murky fish tank. But that area looks a lot better now. It actually looks a bit like the Botanica Gardens if you shut your eyes and imagine really hard without the building around. They've got nice benches there.

The dynamo thingy isn't there. I don't think they'll ever build it. But they've got two see-saws. So, Sylvia and I are looking for people to go play on the see saw! It looks fun! But it's got no handles so it's going to be a bit scary. But fun!

You can actually go collect your O level cert now (It's laminated! So exciting!) but the letter will still be sent and you can go collect when you get the letter.

Anyway, hope you guys aren't too bored with school and stuff. Don't let this place die!

Okay! Update update!

AAD, Learning Festival and Crescentian Day is held this saturday, 31 March 2007, from 9am to 2pm.

What's happening, you ask? The usual AAD mini arts bazaar and food sale by the PSG. Other events include:

Recital and sharing of piano experiences by Abigail Sin (she's the piano prodigy) at PAT.
Wind chamber performance at Ensemble Studio (Arts conservatory)
Fundraising string concert for M.I.L.K. (Mainly I love kids) at PAT.
Balloon sculpting at Millennium Classroom.
Pastry making at Cookery Room 1 (I think this is the home ec room. Glorified name. Pfft.)
Toys and Mechanism at D&T workshop.
Gigajam (the "electronic" band) at Arts Conservatory foyer
A Moari Village (by EL/Lit Dept.) at Seminar Room (Arts conservatory)
Marvellous Maths Exhibition and Hands-on session at Physics lab 1
Reel Art! at Parade Square
Mass dance at Parade Square (you might want to check this out to see them go through that torture)
Marriage of cultures exhibition at the library

Reel Art! is when all the classes dress up as characters from movies and television shows. So you have movies such as the Addams family, LOTR and TV shows like Spongebob.

The theme for this year is "Thinking Hat/Cap". So you are encouraged to wear a funky hat/cap in the form of a head-dress or a creatively self-designed hat/cap.

The letter doesn't say much about whether it is opened to the public but the sec 2-4 are wearing school uniform or PE/House t-shirt with the skirt. So I don't think bringing your boyfriend is a great idea...

Anyway, hope you guys will have fun at this event!

Hello!

I finally came up with a solution for the food crisis. It's so duh. If you want KFC, then order KFC. If you want pizza, then order pizza! Pure brilliance, isn't it?! Kidding!

Do think about what we're going to do for the class gathering because it'll be boring to be just staring at each other, right?! Oh yeah, almost the whole class is going! (Almost because some people haven't confirmed if they can go or not.)

On a totally unrelated matter, listen to this! It's from the Mr Brown show and is freaking funny! It's about the shift in our exam timetable last year...The one day we had the morning paper pushed back by one hour because Bush was visiting. Listen here.

Bring money to pay for food. We don't know if we're ordering pizza or not because of differing views on that issue.

Buses that stop outside Coronation Plaza and opposite: 156, 154, 151, 74, 66, 170, 174. If I remember correctly, 171 and 67 stop there too.

Some options:

1. Take a train to Clementi and take 156, 154. Alight two stops after NJC and cross the overhead bridge.

2. Take 174 from town.

The nearest MRT station is Newton but there's no way you can walk from there. (:

Thought I'd answer some of the questions that you have posted regarding the class gathering.

Venue: Yet to be confirmed. We are trying to ask Yvonne if we could borrow her place for the thing.

Time: This is dependant on the venue but tentatively from about 2 to 8.

Food: Potluck is a bit difficult because everyone would just bring chips, right?! So we'll be ordering pizza. You can bring some drinks and chips too if you want to. For the pizza, please bring some money to pay for it. Yes, contrary to popular belief, pizzas do not fall from the sky.

Fine. Since my suggestion for results day was shot down, some people suggested the weekend before the results are released. That would be the weekend of 3 Feb and 4 Feb.

Suggestions for places:
1. Yvonne's place (though this is just an idea since we don't know if Yvonne would mind.)
2. Lynette's place (ditto, but this is not such a good idea because Lynette hosted us before.)

To clarify, the results are going to be released on Monday, 5 Feb 2007. Although this date is also subject to change but that's the most likely day. JAE posting results come out approximately one month later. Go figure.

Anyway, more suggestions for the class gathering WILL be good, especially if you want to gather as a class. Hurry! That weekend is coming closer and we need to get this organized as soon as possible!

There are some answers stuff posted on the MLG but I'm too lazy to upload them. Would a nice kind soul do it? Or you'll just have get it yourself or wait for the lazy spell to wear off...

Anyway, E Tian and I need someone who lives near a Giant to count crackers. Literally. The brand is Lee's and costs $0.99. It's on special. Just count the number of crackers in one pack so that we can buy the correct quantity. Remember, whatever the $50 the school gave us doesn't cover, comes from the class fund.

CIP tomorrow. People on the first shift, meet at Somerset MRT station at 7.30 am. Somerset MRT is next to Specialist Center and opposite Centrepoint. Some buses that go there are 7, 106 and 111.

Just the usual reminder. Do your duty. Yadda Yadda Blah Blah. I know the Joy Luck Club is all about not being passive but could you people be a bit more passive about doing your duties? You have no idea how boring it is to have to remind you every single time. Do remember that the cleaniness of the classroom contributes to our ranking as class of the year (not that i really care but you know...) and we do not want to be nominated as the dirtiest class of the week, now do we?

Anyway

Funfair is on April 8. We need 10 people to fry 420 eggs and another 10 people to fry a colossal amount of rice. Please volunteer enthusiastically because if E Tian and I have to ask people to do the frying, you are in for a world of pain. More details will be given sometime this week, I think.

Hello! Couple of things to settle.

Firstly, those who already did the various science presentations, you can upload them here so that the rest of the class can download them for their own use. If you do choose to upload it here, please remove ALL of the pictures that you have downloaded from the net due to the copyright laws.

Secondly, the list of common test topics is on the MLG. But you can download it here.

Thirdly, I've been thinking of curtaining the area behind our class so that there is a little area for you guys to change. So that you'll stop using the mirror as a cover. So, does anyone have a spare shower curtain to donate to the class. Make sure its opaque. If so, please let me know.

Lastly, as you all know, our class character is "perseverance". We have decided on two people to portray our version of perseverance. Lance Armstrong and Terry Fox. So, please research on them and bring some pictures too.

Angbao Fishes for Dummies

After requesting all the Chinese students to make the fishes and getting the repy "How to make?!", I've decided to post a step-by-step guide to make one. Even a dummy will be able to do it.

Step one: Get your angbao.

Step two: Cut your angbao into a square.

Step three: Fold your square the other way. So now, you should have two folds, intersecting each other at the centre.

Step four: You should have one open side. Now cut the adjecent side open. You should now have a cone like thingy.

Step five: At the tip of the two open sides, cut up that fold to the centre.

Step six: Cut diagonally up the the middle as shown. Repeat on the other side

Step seven: Now cut that bit off to get something like this:

Repeat on the other side and you will get something like this:

Step eight: Now, cross the two flaps that you have just cut on both sides. This forms the tail. Make sure your fish is biconvex.

Step nine: Staple the "tail" together.

And voila! You have a angbao fish!

Now run along and make twenty of these! We need them for the CNY decorations!

Hello people!

The passwords for the MLG have been reset to the default passwords. So you probably wouldn't be able to get in if you had changed your passwords last year. You do know the default password, don't you? *wiggles eyebrows*

Anyway, the CNY decoration competition is coming up. So, we have to decorate the classroom (again. darn.) Everybody must contribute something. Only the PRC and ASEAN scholars are don't have to bring the decorations. (You can bring some if you want to. Otherwise, you can just help with putting the decorations up.) But everyone else (MUMMY & DADDY scholars) must!! Ideas will be good too. No, angbaos don't count. Unless that's all you have.

This is our last year! So we must make it memorable! Otherwise, it'll just be like last year-pathetic.

You have been warned.

p.s. duty girls, please do the class a favour and do the spring cleaning. The rest of the class, for the love of 4C1, don't litter. It'll make everyone's life much easier.

The Concerned Adolescent

Our planet spins around the sun
in its oval-shaped orbit
like a moth circling a bright, hot, golden-yellow light bulb.

Look at this beautiful, lovely
blu and green and white jewel
shinig against the dark black sky.
It is doomed.

On another planet somewhere far away in the galazy
beings are discussing the problems of Earth.
'It is a wonderful world,' says their leader.
It has roaring oceans filled with many kinds of fishes,
It has green meadows bedecked with white and yellow flowers,
Its trees have twisting roots and fruitful, abundant branches.

But it is doomed.

'The problem with this lovely, beautiful world, you see,
is the inhabitants, known as HUMAN BEINGS.
Human beings will not live in peace and love
and care for the little helpless creatures who share the planet with them.
They pollute the world, they kill and eat the animals.
Everywhere there is blood and the stench of death.
